GIT STRUNG! Strung Like A Horse is BA-a-a-ack at Rum 138!
STRUNG LIKE A HORSE
Known for their signature brand of Americana, distilled from old-school storytelling, roots instrumentations, and alt-rock edge, Strung Like A Horse will rock your socks off. Mississippi-bred, Chattanooga-based frontman Clayton Maselle brings the influences of his heroes John Hartford, Split Lip Rayfield, Danny Barnes, The Band, Violent Femmes, and Old Crow Medicine Show to his singular songs. The band’s authenticity, high energy, and great fondness for a good time have made their live shows a cult favorite.
Strung’s first studio album, WHOA!, was produced by multi-Grammy-winner Matt Ross-Spang (Jason Isbell, John Prine, Calexico/Iron & Wine, Margo Price, Lucero) at the legendary Sound Emporium in Nashville. Most of the tracks were laid down with the band playing together in one pass, without overdubs, and were sent direct to tape, making it a “record that captures the vibe of their rightfully celebrated live shows perfectly.” WHOA! landed at #3 on the Top 5 Most Added AMA/CDX Americana Albums and spent 16 consecutive weeks in the Top 40 at Americana Radio, while multiple singles hit the Billboard BDS Triple A Indicator Chart Top 40. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard Chart for Bluegrass Albums, #1 on Amazon New Releases, #2 on the Amazon Alt-Country/Americana Chart, #4 on the Alt-Country Specialty Chart, #7 on Bluegrass Today’s Grassicana Chart, and #2 on the RMR Alternative Folk Chart “Top 100 Americana Radio Airplay Albums of 2021” year-end lists. CMT and Ditty TV premiered the official music videos of their radio hits, "Crazy Like Me" and "Till the Wheels Fall Off.” The popular touring act was noted by No Depression’s Amos Perrine as among the “Best New Music” and a “Don’t Miss” at AmericanaFest week in Nashville, and their official showcase wowed London at AmericanaFestUK 2020.
Strung Like a Horse tours year-round, performing up to 100 shows a year, including Bonnaroo (labeled "Best Band Name"), Riverbend Festival, Holla Yella Fest, Moon River Music Festival, AmericanaFest, JBE SummitFest, NPR Live Sessions, Suwannee Roots, Wildwood Revival, Rhythm & Blooms, Summer Camp, HartfordFest, LibertyFest, and Jam in the Van. On the road, they have supported Old Crow Medicine Show, Shooter Jennings, Cage the Elephant, Sierra Ferrell, Railroad Earth, Nicki Bluhm, Del McCoury, Charlie Daniels, Travis Tritt, Sam Bush, and Hot Buttered Rum.
