All rentals include a paddle, whistle, vest, and shuttle service. Please book appointments in advance.
Our rental service provides a convenient drop off and pickup service included in the rental price. We offer both single and double kayaks for rent, as well as canoes and paddleboards. We launch between 9am and 1pm, and trips are completed by 5pm at the latest. When the trip is finished, call for a pick-up. We offer shuttle and reverse shuttle options for your own watercraft as well. For appointments please meet at the Rum 138 building at: 2070 SW County Road 138, Ft. White, FL, 32038
For booking a full day trip, it's best to book with us between 9am and 11am.

Who loves Florida springs? The lower Santa Fe River is bejeweled with the world’s densest cluster of natural springs. Many of these springs are accessible by water and connected to the river. Some are within walking distance and include various recreation and amenities. Touring, picnicking, and swimming at these brilliant blue springs is the highlight of a day on the water with Rum 138.

River Trip Length Paddle Time
US 27 Bridge to Rum Island 4 miles 1.5 to 2 hour
A perfect combination of paddling and spring tours, Rum 138 guests have plenty of time for leisure and recreation. This beautiful river trip begins at the US 27 Bridge and stretches for four miles downstream to Rum Island Springs Park. Going with the flow of the river, guests may stop and tour the natural springs and parks along the route, including more well known springs such as Poe, Lilly, and Rum Island Springs. When the river forks around Rum Island, stay to the right and cruise into Rum Island Park. At this point paddlers may choose to extend the trip into Gilchrist-Blue Springs. Remember to return to the boat ramp at Rum Island Park to exit. Gently land boats at the main boat ramp connected to the parking lot, and call Rum 138 for custom pick-up. This trip is often booked with a half day rental.

Rum Island to Santa Fe Park,
(SR 47 Bridge) 6 miles 3.5 hr
Another of Rum 138's half-day paddling trips begins at Rum Island Springs Park and continues westward (downstream) to the Santa Fe Park. Touring world-class springs is a highlight of this option, as guests have river access to Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park and Ginnie Springs, both of which are rated top ten springs in the state of Florida. Enchanting Springs along this tour also include: Devil's Eye, Devil's Ear, July, and Dogwood. A long stretch of beautiful conservation preserve defines the last hour of the Rum Island to Santa Fe Park river trip. Pick-up is at the boat ramp just before the 47 Bridge, on the left side of the river, at the Santa Fe Park.

This one-of-a-kind paddling excursion with Merrillee Jipson offers first-hand perspectives of our wonderful Santa Fe River, its lore, and the current state of its being. Merrillee is a kind and generous environmental advocate for this waterway; she also provides information she has gleaned from attending thousands of government meetings about the Santa Fe River and Florida’s waterways.
You are welcome to bring drinks and snacks along on your river adventure. We ask that you not litter or leave behind any garbage, as it is harmful to our river and its wildlife. Bring or purchase in our outpost: a dry bag to protect your valuables, a mask and snorkel or goggles to swim in the springs, snacks and drinks.
Please Note: some springs are private and charge admission if you go ashore.
Yes, you may - We are dog friendly for friendly dogs; please have them on a leash at all times. Doggie dodo bags are also a good idea. Dogs may ride on our vessels and transport vehicles and are treated to a free chicken jerky.
Yes, but please bring back your trash, and one more piece of trash you find as well. There are recommended picnic areas along the trip featured on our complimentary river maps.
Yes, toddlers and small children are provided with age-appropriate life vests for the Santa Fe River Trip. We recommend our three-seat tandem kayak which features a custom small seat in the middle for your little one. The best trip for small children is US 27 HWY Bridge to Rum Island Park.
Located on the corner of Rum Island Terrace and County Road 138, Rum 138 is smack dab in the middle of the highest concentration of freshwater springs in north Florida and...the world. We shuttle you upstream, pick you up at a designated area downstream and return you to our premises.
Yes, you may bring your own kayak, canoe or paddleboard. We charge $25 per vessel for the shuttle fee. We also offer the option for reverse shuttles where paddlers park their vehicles at the intended take-out point and leave directly from that location.

Yes! Access some of the best springs in Florida by paddling the Santa Fe River. Park admission of $2 per person is required for entering Gilchrist Blue Springs. Rum Island Springs admission is included with all rentals. Stay in the water and off the land to swim at the Ginnie Springs complex while avoiding fees.
The access areas Rum 138 uses are public boat ramps; we ask that our customers be considerate of other users in these locations. Please place your boats out of the way while waiting for pickup and drop off.
